Having been involved in neuromorphic engineering research and development for over 35 years, Andre is a pioneer – and one of the top ten most published and cited researchers – in the field. One of his neuromorphic vision sensor designs became the first neuromorphic engineering product: the motion sensor for Logitech’s Trackman Marble, which came on the market in 1994 and is still being produced using his design a remarkable 30 years later.
He founded the International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems at Western Sydney University in 2018. Andre moved to the University of Manchester in 2025 and set up another International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems as a sister to the one in Sydney.
In addition to his world leading skills in neuromorphic sensor and algorithm design, his global reputation and industry connections will be vital for the scientific and engineering credibility of Optera.
